Hotels-live.com - photograph by @vincentjmusi Snow Leopard, Mill Mountain Zoo, Roanoke, Virginia The “ghost of the mountains” is rarely seen in the wild, unless of course you consider Roanoke to be wild. Far from Central Asia, The Mill Mountain Zoo is helping to ensure survival for many threatened and endangered animals like the Snow Leopard, as a partner in the Association of Zoos & Aquariums Species Survival Plan. The zoo was kind enough to let us visit but “China" wasn’t very interested in being photographed for our project on Cats in Crisis. She growled at me a bit, so I sang to her. Might have been some Frank Sinatra or Elvis Costello, but she wasn’t buying it. I can’t recall everything but I do remember kneeling at the foot of her enclosure singing something like What’s New Pussycat ? by Tom Jones when I got her attention and made this picture. I’m not much of a singer. . if you want to see more Big Cat photographs go to @vincentjmusi for the whole series @Hotelslive by natgeo instagram.com/p/ruQc-CoVY6/ Follow #Instagram @Hotelspaschers instagram.com/hotelspaschers and @Voyageslive #Twitter #TeamFollowBack #Natgeo #Voyage #Travel #TFB #FollowTrick www.facebook.com/125048940862168/photos/a.801751693191886... via Hotels-live.com www.facebook.com/pages/p/125048940862168 #Retweet #TeamFollowBack #F4F #TityFollowTrain via http://flic.kr/p/osxus7
