South Georgia Island is located in the Atlantic Ocean between South America and Africa and above Antarctica. There is no permanent human population on the island and it is best known as the location where Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men were finally rescued. It is also the world’s largest penguin breeding grounds. Standing on the shore of Salisbury Plain, you are surrounded by 100,000 king penguins. There is nothing else in the world quite like it. Not only is it visually stunning, but the sound and smell is something you won’t soon forget either.
