Hotels-live.com - TOP 30 @AUSTRALIA BEST MEMORIES ▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂▂ #19 - Kakadu National Park …………………………………………………… Last week I told you that pretty much everyone I met who travelled a bit in Australia told me that there are two national parks not to be missed: Karijini (WA) and Kakadu (NT / Top End). Kakadu is Australia’s largest national park with the size of Slovenia or nearly half the size of Switzerland! Aboriginal people have occupied the Kakadu area continuously for at least 40,000 years. There are more than 5,000 recorded art sites illustrating Aboriginal culture over thousands of years. Also, the wildlife and ecological diversity is huge. Impossible then to visit it in just a few days, you even wouldn’t have enough to see everything in a month I reckon ! However, I had the chance to visit Kakadu two times, once at the end of the wet season and once during the dry season. I have to admit that my first time wasn’t that good. All the most impressive sites were closed because of flooded roads or crocodiles, and I didn’t have a 4WD to go to to some more remote areas, so I missed Ubirr, Yellow Water, Jim Jim Falls, Maguk and Gunlom. Because of that, I swore that I will be back at the dry season, and with a 4WD! So 2 months later, @ausoutbacknt sent me there for a couple of days in a 4WD with @elisaparkranger and @maximecoquard to take pictures and do a reportage of the national park. That was the first time I met the guys after having followed them for months on Instagram. We quickly became friends and had an amazing time the 3 of us in this stunning area. I finally had the chance to watch the sunset from the breathtaking view in Ubirr, do a sunrise cruise on Yellow Water billabong, and explore Gunlom and Maguk (first time I was driving a 4x4, that was too exciting !). Not enough time to go to Jim Jim & Twin Falls though. The park is huge and the distances between 2 points are very long. A good reason to come back to Australia I guess :) But honestly, if you’re around Darwin, just take 3 or 4 days to explore as much as you can of the park with a 4 wheel drive. It’s only 3 hours away from the city and you won’t regret it ! @Hotelslive by lebackpacker instagram.com/p/tH7ndaBQY9/ Follow #Instagram @Hotelspaschers instagram.com/hotelspaschers and @Voyageslive #Twitter #TeamFollowBack #Lebackpacker #Voyage #Travel #TFB #FollowTrick www.facebook.com/125048940862168/photos/a.801854003181655... via Hotels-live.com www.facebook.com/pages/p/125048940862168 #Retweet #TeamFollowBack #F4F #TityFollowTrain via http://flic.kr/p/phxDcV
