Once in Cairns, in a helicopter with @GBRHelicopters and once in Airlie Beach, in a seaplane, with @air_whitsunday. Both were absolutely unique as that was the very first time I was flying in a helicopter and in a seaplane. In Cairns, the 30 min trip took me to @reefmagiccruises pontoon somewhere on the Outer Reef, for a day of snorkeling. On our way, we flew over a small solitary sand cay and the pilot offered me to land on it for a few minutes. Absolutely unforgettable to be the only ones on a secluded sandy cay in the middle of the Coral Sea ! Then a few km further, we flew over the reef. There’s no word to describe the feeling I had that day. I saw so many pictures of the Great Barrier Reef from the air, I knew what to expect, but what you actually see is just speechless. One of the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in my life. The colors, the corals, the reef, the shapes… everything was just STUNNING ! A few weeks after this fantastic experience, I tried the Panorama Tour with Air Whitsunday. 1 hour flight over the islands but also over the Reef. If you don’t know it yet, the Great Barrier Reef is stretching for over 2,300km so it’s normal to find it in the Whitsundays as well, even though there’s almost 700km between Cairns and Airlie Beach. This time, the experience was on board of a seaplane. Landing and taking off on the ocean is just incredible ! It’s pretty much like a giant jet ski, except that you're floating in the air after a few seconds :) Anyway, that time, I wanted to re-fly over the Reef, not only because the first time was perfect, but also because I wanted to see and shoot the world famous Heart Reef !
