Once in April during a rainy week, and once in August. The main reason I went to Uluru was of course to see the giant monolith, but first of all to see it under the stars. A lot of travelers who went there told me that at night, if the sky is clear, I’d see something I couldn’t see somewhere else in Australia. I mean I saw a lot of clear skies during my year, but apparently the nights in the Red Centre are something really special. So I went first in April, during my road trip. Bad luck at all, I only saw clouds and rain for the 3 days I stayed there. A bit frustrated (a lot !), I went to Darwin, swearing that I’ll be back a few months later to see the sunrise and sunset over Uluru, but first of all, to see this legendary night sky ! Since my very first day in Australia I had that dream shot: a 180° panorama of the Milky Way above Uluru. I did everything in my power to go back to the Red Centre after my 3 months in Darwin and before my big road trip on the east coast. So I contacted @ausoutbacknt, and as we’d already worked together in Kakadu, I asked them if they were interested to send me back to the Red Centre for 3 days in exchange of pictures. They accepted and early August, I was back in the centre of the country. Exploring Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon with @wayoutbackaus on a perfect weather, I finally had the chance to see what I was dreaming of for months: a perfect winter clear sky. The conditions were perfect: super dry and freezing cold (3°C), not a single cloud and a great lookout on Uluru from Ayers Rock Resort. I was in a dream. I couldn’t believe what I had in front of me. Something so clear, something I had never seen before that very moment. Too excited, I took my camera, and for 30 minutes I shot this 25-image panorama I had in mind for almost a year. UNFORGETTABLE.
