My work often goes on way before and way after publication. The NatGeo photographers are a dedicated bunch and passionate about their work beyond the assignment. So this past January I made this photograph of a parkour artist's jump just to continue my personal work in Rio. When I am doing one of my Rio photo workshops I also try always to make a book of my work from the collected imagery of assigned and unassigned work and encourage my students to do the same. Photography is our life. My colleagues at historic Magnum Photos who shoot for NatGeo work in the same way. We recently challenged each other to dig up the pictures that we never published in NatGeo, or anywhere else, and offer them for sale at way below collector prices to our audience.
