The two have a symbiotic, mutualistic relationship, meaning they each provide a benefit to each other. The venomous sea anemone protects the clownfish from predators. In return, the clownfish eats predators that might be harmful to the anemone and the anemone feeds off the fecal matter of the fish. This Clark's Anemonefish was dutifully guarding its anemone in the clear waters of the South China Sea. Taken while snorkeling on an Expedition aboard the National Geographic Orion.
