Photograph by @adrianballinger // @coryrichards crossing what we hope will be our only ladder of the season. Ladders across crevasses have been a feature of climbing Everest on the South Side for many years. As climate change combines with an exceptionally dry winter, ladders are finding their way onto other popular Himalayan peaks, including here, at 19,500 feet on Island Peak. Cory and I spent the past week acclimatizing in the Khumbu Valley in Nepal waiting for Tibet to open to climbers. Tomorrow we begin our travel to the North Side of Mt. Everest for our no-oxygen attempt.
