Woah! We can feel the force of nature from here! #Gulfoss is iconic to #Iceland and totally untouched. On a sunny day a shimmering rainbow can be seen over the falls. The story goes back to 1907 when foreign invenstors wanted to buy the land from a farmer to build on it to harness electricity. However, the farmer's daughter, Sigriour Tómasdóttir, grew up on her farther's farm and protested. She used all her savings to hire a lawyer, and even walked barefoot to #Reykjavík to follow up her case. When everything else failed, she stood at the edge of the waterfall and threatened to throw herself off it if construction began. The people of Iceland were in awe of her bravey an passion for preserving nature. She is now considered Iceland's first enviromentalist, what a lady 💙🌿❄💧(📷 @jeffsantosbr) Hotels-live.com via www.instagram.com/p/BCJNxOIjyq_/ via http://flic.kr/p/DYEA17
